Sooo I made the "promise" to myself to not re-do any pages unless necessary... but this was one that I DID redraw. The first version I did with a brush, and it was kinda cool looking but too heavy and loose for a building. I debated about it for a while, but eventually decided to redraw it with a nib. And I'm glad I did! I like this version much better. New episode on Webtoons! - The downside of 7 pages a week: that's a more intense schedule than I'm used to. The upside: I'm getting faster at making pages 😂 - But I feel like the quality suffered a bit because I was rushing. Not horribly, but I just know I cut a few corners :/ But at the same time, I DID finish on time. Here's a gouache piece that I'm particularly happy with. It was with my cheap gouache, but I wanted to imitate the palette of older comics like Prince Valiant and Flash Gordon. It's kinda the color I'd like to do a full comic in (somedaaaayyy)! - I put together a palette of these colors so I can quickly experiment without having to mix so much. Hi gang! I hope your weekend went well! I've been working away at pages 19-25, going up this Friday. I'm looking forward to this episode because there's a bit of interesting character growth that I think y'all will like. - Also finished my pad of Bristol paper... and I decided to try a new kind of paper. It's made Hammermill, their heavy weight card stock stuff. It's what Jake Parker recommends on his page, and it's a LOT cheaper than Bristol (like the same price for 200 sheets instead of 20.) It's supposed to arrive tomorrow so here's hoping it works out! - Also I'm looking at some new nibs. I like the ones I use, but a lot of people recommend the G nibs. It means buying a new holder too, but I'm intrigued! Here's a shot from today's webtoons update! I honestly really enjoy doing these kinds of shots. I always *think* I don't because I know they take a while, but once I get going, I feel engaged and intrigued by the details.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Buuut pages like this also REALLY make me wish it was in color. I've been enjoying doing landscape paintings, so to me, this is just begging for some gouache. SIGH. Sooo this was done forever ago but I never posted because I dunno! Anyway, this was a piece for a challenge in the #SteadfastCreatives Discord group I'm part of. The theme was "steadfast", but I also wanted to do something with my comic character, Eleanor.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the story, she's alone in enemy territory, but very determined to be brave and strong, so I felt that she was a good subject for the theme.
